In a study of 272 patients, spinal manipulation therapy and home exercises with advice were shown to be more effective than medication in the treatment of acute and subacute neck pain.
A study of 44 workers admitted to a Norwegian hospital suffering from sudden and painful low back pain diagnosed as acute sciatica, who received chiropractic treatment, showed that 91% of the patients returned to full- time work within 21 days. The results demonstarted that the addition of chiropractic treatment reduced sick leave among the patients by almost 66% compared with that associated with conventional medical treatment.
40 male participants between the ages of 30 and 40 diagnosed with degenerative lumbar disease were split into two equal groups, one group receiving a spinal manipulation the other placebo. The group receiving a spinal manipulation noticed immediate improvement in every test area including their "self-perceived pain, spinal mobility in flexion, hip flexion and subjects' full height" even after just one treatment.
A review of randomized clinical trials suggests that massage therapy, physiotherapy, relaxation and chiropractic spinal manipulative therapy might be equally efficient as some medications in the prophylactic management of migraine.
Compared to control participants, massage participants exhibited greater improvements in migraine frequency and sleep quality during the intervention weeks, indicating support for the utility of massage therapy as a nonpharmacologic treatment for individuals suffering from migraines.
A 2011 study of 28 patients with adult scoliosis who participated in a multimodal chiropractic rehabilitation program conducted over two years showed that even after six months disability scores were halved and pain was reduced by up to 40%. Abnormal curves were reduced in the majority of cases and difficulty breathing due to the scoliosis was reportedly reduced.
A Chinese study of 90 sciatica patients showed that 56.67% of the patients receiving acupuncture, compared to 26.67% of the patients receiving pain medication and 20% of patients receiving alkaloid injections, experienced increases in their pain thresholds.

A recent study showed that chiropractic treatment with rehabilitation was more effective in the treatment of inversion injuries compared to rehabilitation alone.
